The Captain:

For Martin’s tea, I’m going to stick with the description I gave it last night, which I’ve found to be unintentionally perfect: “It grows on you, as at first I thought it was rather bland.” This is still true — I was initially thrown off by the tea’s smell and thought I had made a dud. However, The Captain (steeped for about four minutes) is rather good with just a bit of sugar (and adding the sugar makes the brewed tea smell faintly of Froot Loops). The lemon and ginger aren’t overpowering, mostly coming through as notes in the background.

As I described to my co-creator, Casey, The Captain is the type of tea I’d want on hand if I weren’t feeling well. I’ve also tried it iced since (with honey for a sweetener instead of sugar), and it’s also good in that form. Plus, it looks pretty:

Created for the culinary crackpot with a bit of a sweet-tooth… but not BY him. Chocolate reminiscent of Arthur’s attempt at Carolyn’s birthday surprise (‘It’s a CAKE!’), and raspberry and cream compliments MJN’s non-poisoned cheesecake (‘Four slices!’).chocolate, raspberry, cream

When I opened the bag with this tea, I’m pretty sure I groaned and said something vaguely obscene as it smells WONDERFUL — exactly like a raspberry mousse. In drinking the tea (steeped for about four minutes), the raspberry comes through quite strongly without adding anything to the cup. When I added milk and sugar (my preferred method for most teas), the chocolate and cream came through with the raspberry mostly in the background, as the taste that lingered in my mouth afterwards. I’d say that this is definitely more of a dessert tea, but that won’t stop me from drinking it at all times of the day. :)
